There are three kinds of differences between Hydraulic Cylinder and Air Cylinder:
1. Different in nature
Hydraulic Cylinder: Cylinder generally refers to hydraulic cylinder (mechanical equipment). Hydraulic cylinder is a hydraulic actuator that converts hydraulic energy into mechanical energy and makes linear reciprocating motion (or swing motion).
Air Cylinder: Cylindrical metal parts that guide the piston to reciprocate in a straight line in the cylinder. Air transforms thermal energy into mechanical energy by expanding in the engine cylinder; gas receives piston compression in the compressor cylinder to increase pressure.
2. Advantages are different.
Hydraulic Cylinder: It has simple structure and reliable operation. When it is used to realize reciprocating motion, it can avoid deceleration device, and has no transmission clearance, so it is widely used in various mechanical hydraulic systems.
Air Cylinder: Cylinder can work reliably under harsh conditions, and the operation is simple, basically can achieve maintenance-free. Cylinder is good at reciprocating linear motion, especially suitable for the most important transmission requirement in industrial automation – the linear handling of workpiece. Moreover, only adjusting the one-way throttle valve installed on both sides of the cylinder can simply achieve stable speed control, which has become the biggest feature and advantage of the cylinder drive system.
3. Disadvantages are different.
Hydraulic Cylinder: The common faults are misoperation of hydraulic cylinder, inability to push load and piston slipping or creeping. It is not uncommon for the equipment to stop due to the failure of hydraulic cylinder. Therefore, attention should be paid to the fault diagnosis and maintenance of hydraulic cylinder.
Air Cylinder: The cylinder will also be deformed in the future operation; the cylinder is prone to plastic deformation resulting in leakage; the cylinder and flange will produce great thermal stress and deformation defects.
